Anabela Pereira‘s main stream of research deals with stress, anxiety and mental health. She integrates concepts and techniques from cognitive-behavioral approach and the use biofeedback. She is focused on psychological distress in crisis and trauma situations, psychosocial factors and psychological adjustment processes in normative and risk contexts (pe. oncology).  The results of her research have applications at evidence-based evaluation and intervention and help people cope with stress and promote health and well-being.
