Bruna Roçadas Guedes is a PhD student in the Education, Society and Development program at NOVA FCSH and a member of the William James Center for Research. She holds a BSc in Genetics and Biotechnology from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD) and an MSc in Cognitive and Behavioural Neurosciences from ISPA/Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
She is currently developing her PhD project on sleep education and it’s impact on cognitive aspects in adolescents (aged 12–18), including attention, memory, and learning processes. Her research also explores how chronotype may influence sleep patterns and cognitive functioning in this age group. The project aims to contribute to the development of educational policies and to the implementation of the Student Sleep Support Office (Gabinete ASA – Apoio ao Sono do Aluno), a school-based program designed to equip teachers and psychologists with tools to identify and support students with sleep-related difficulties.
Professionally, Bruna R. Guedes is a Professor in the field of Sciences, a Clinical Researcher in the field of Sleep. She has completed a Postgraduate program in Adult Insomnia (TECH), the professional trainer certification (CCP – B-Training Consulting), and several additional trainings, including Scientific Writing and Conference Communication (FMUL), Nonverbal Behaviour Analysis (UTAD) and Clinical Sleep Practice (Clínica Teresa Rebelo Pinto).
Bruna R. Guedes is an active speaker in training sessions related to sleep and health. Beyond academia, she has also engaged in civic and public service, having been a Municipal Youth Councillor and Municipal Deputy in Vila Real and a member of the National Electoral Commission (CESOP).
Her main research interests include Sleep, Nonverbal Behaviour and Generational Trauma.
