Ana Sofia Silva

I’ve had a degree in Clinical Psychology since 2004 from the Lusíada University of Porto. I have a post-graduate degree in Medico-Legal Sciences and a Master’s degree in Medico-Legal Medicine since 2010 from the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICBAS), the subject of which was “Neuropsychological Study in Institutionalised Adolescents”. Subsequently, I published the article “Neuropsychological Study in Juvenile Delinquents” in Revista Lusíada.Direito, nº5/6 (2012), with the collaboration of Professor Sara Fernandes (Universidade Portucalense Infante D. Henrique, Porto; INPP).
Due to my interest in neuropsychology, in 2012/2013 I took a postgraduate course in Neuropsychological Assessment and Rehabilitation at the Criap Institute.
I also had the opportunity to collaborate on the publication of a scientific article, “Effects of aging on memory strategies: a validation of the Portuguese version of the Test of Memory Strategies”.  In this project, I took part in data collection as well as writing the introductory part of the scientific article.
Currently, alongside my career as a Clinical Psychologist, I am a student on the Doctoral Programme in Psychology at the University of Aveiro, a member of DEP-UA and WJCR.UA. My study seeks to understand the effects that the Covid-19 pandemic has had on the elderly population and the evolution of this impact over time, taking into account several variables, such as anxiety, fear of contagion, subjective perception of memory, quality of life, how they coped with isolation, and compliance with individual and collective protection rules during the pandemic.
My study is supervised by Prof Isabel Santos (DEP-UA; WJCR) and co-supervised by Prof Sara Fernandes (Universidade Portucalense Infante D. Henrique; Member of the Instituto Portucalense para o Desenvolvimento Humano – INPP).
My areas of interest in terms of research are: Ageing, Neuropsychology and Experimental Psychology.
