Lénia Amaral is an Assistant Professor at ISPA and a Researcher at the WJCR. She earned her PhD in Neuropsychology from the University of Coimbra and completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Georgetown University in the USA. Her research focuses on how the human brain represents and organizes conceptual knowledge, particularly in the area of action understanding. She employs a combination of behavioral and neuroimaging methods, such as EEG and fMRI, to investigate the emergence of conceptual representations in the brain. Additionally, her work explores brain organization and experience-dependent plasticity, including studies involving sensory-deprived populations, such as those who are deaf or blind. Lénia has published several peer-reviewed articles in collaboration with both national and international institutions.
