Following a developmental and transactional approach, Maryse Guedes’ main research line is the development and evaluation of a new universal intervention program with targeted elements for inhibited preschoolers to be implemented by preschool teachers in the classrooms. In parallel, she has been also investigating the beliefs of key socialization agents (parents, peers, and preschool staff) toward anxious withdrawal and the effectiveness of a new multi-modal intervention (Turtle Program, Chronis-Tuscano et al., 2015) for Portugal targeted at parents and inhibited preschoolers, either implemented in-person or online. Her current research interests are: anxious withdrawal during the preschool years; internalizing problems; beliefs toward anxious withdrawal; teacher-child relationship; peer play interactions; early childhood intervention.
