Ph.D. Student
Cognition Team
Sara holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Aveiro (UA) and a Master’s degree in Human Cognition from the University of Minho (UM). Her master’s thesis explored pigeons’ learning strategies in a temporal discrimination task without inter-trial intervals. During her master’s program, she also completed a research internship at the Human Memory Research Group. Currently, she is a PhD student at UA and a member of the Adaptive Behavior Lab (UA) and the Learning and Animal Behavior Lab (UM). Her PhD project aims to better understand social learning, particularly imitation, in domestic cats – in response to both human and conspecific demonstrators. Additionally, the project also aims to clarify how the type of reinforcement may enhance motivation to engage with the task and, consequently, the expression of imitative behavior.
