Prof. Dr. Rajita Sinha (Yale University, USA) will give a lecture entitled “The Adaptive Stress Responses and Addiction: Risk and Relapse Outcomes”.
About the Speaker:
Dr. Rajita Sinha is a Professor of Psychiatry at Yale University and Founder of the Yale Interdisciplinary Stress Center. Her research focuses on the neurobiological mechanisms underlying stress and addiction, particularly their impact on relapse and clinical outcomes. She is the author of more than 300 scientific publications, with approximately 46,500 citations and an h-index of 113. She has received numerous international distinctions for her contributions to the field of addiction, has led research projects supported by more than €20 million in funding, and has supervised dozens of doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers. She currently serves as President of the Research Society on Alcohol.

Abstract:
How do we face stress and often even thrive and flourish as we meet challenges in the world today? And, how and why does adaptive coping fail, resulting in increasing risk for stress-related mental health disorders? This lecture will focus on the operational components of the adaptive stress response (ASR), brain, physiological and cognitive and behavioral aspects and key findings that show specific maladaptive aspects of the stress responses that are disrupted in addiction risk and in addiction and how they link to treatment outcomes. The lecture will also touch upon whether novel stress-focused therapeutics may reverse the disruptions to restore adaptive stress coping.
