Dr. António Manuel Duarte is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Lisbon, where his teaching and research focus on the fields of Psychology of Art and Educational Psychology. In the area of Psychology of Art, he has authored several articles and book chapters, including the work Psicologia da Arte – Apreciação, Criação e Obra, which is particularly relevant to the topic of this conference. In the field of Educational Psychology, his book Aprender Melhor pela Arte – Um Programa Psicoeducacional also stands out.

Abstract:
Starting from the main theoretical models and empirical research in the Psychology of Art, this conference presents an integrative proposal for understanding the psychological processes involved in artistic appreciation. The model results from a cross-sectional analysis of the different existing approaches, seeking to offer a comprehensive view of the aesthetic experience. The conference also invites reflection on the current limitations of knowledge in this field and on the challenges facing future research, pointing to possible directions for the development of new explanatory models of art appreciation.
